- Yeah.
- Like for fringe festivals.
- Yeah.
- And then we couldn't write a musical, 'cause, as you can see, we're squirrels, and we're like, "Let's write about this.
Let's write about this."
- I just really liked the music, yeah, and I was like, "Well, let's just do the fun part."
Yeah.
- Yeah.
I mean, none of us felt like making a play.
We just liked being a band.
(solemn rock music) I am your worst fear The kind you wish never lived here I am a problem child But I still find a way to smile - How did you come to the name?
Because I think I read an origin story that it was prison.
- A family member of Lauren's, two, - Separate ones.
- Misheard the name of the band as Prism.
- She was like, "Prism Bitch?
That's cool."
And I was like, "No, no, no, that's not what I..." And then my dad, kind of the same thing on the phone.
"Oh, Prism?
That's cool."
I was like, "No, that's not..." - [Teresa] And so we were like, "Well, let's just do that."
- That is a cool name.
- That is a cool name.
That's, like, way more interesting than the musical.

Oh, what is this - Well, I think when you have the name "bitch" in your name, people kind of know that they're getting into like, okay, it might be more rowdy, or we have permission to say other cuss words, because the name "bitch" is already in the name.
But now I can't pretend - But, also, we try not to take ourselves too seriously.
- Let me do a mic check.
- Yeah, let's all slurp.
(noodles slurp) - [Ken] Slippery noodle slipped off the side of- - Are you getting this, Nick?
(lively rock music) - My drum stick.
What are you doing down there?
- We wanna give it up to to all the team here at "Bands of Enchantment" that have made it so amazing.
The film crew.
- Yeah, thanks, guys.
- The people that fed us.
(audience applauds) You guys are amazing for coming.
Thank you so much.
- Thanks for coming.

- Very collaboratively.
- [Band Member] Most of the songs are written together, and then, some of them, we'll bring a song to the band and go from there, yeah.
- We're kind of on different schedules in different locations sometimes So now we book songwriting retreats.
- Nobody better find our cabin.
- No.
Don't find out about it.
- [Band Member] But then, at night, we'll watch "School of Rock" and eat popcorn.
- Or that one movie with Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins where they're lost in Alaska.
- That one wasn't of my choosing - [Band Member] Oh, okay.
- And then you made us watch "The Thing.
- Yes, but we write songs.
That's more important.
Now I can't pretend, I can't pretend - I've been watching you guys for a while.
I was like, are they gonna, like, not air our show 'cause there's a band that says "bitch" in it?
I, like, have found it's ownership of it.
- That's almost exactly where we come from with the word "bitch," as, like, owning it as a woman in music and owning it as an entity that's like, you know, all inclusive, like ownership of it.
- Someone can't use a word to hurt you if you use it to feel cool.
(lively rock music) (audience applauds) Aw, thanks.
- [Band Member] Thanks for listening.
- Enjoy your lunch!
(audience applauds) Thank you.
Now, good night, keyboard.
- I'm gonna do it!
- Oh, it seems fine.
Yeah, they got it.
And through the magic of television- - [Band Member] Now I have a guitar!

Thanks!

Prism Bitch!
(audience applauding) - I really thought dudes with frosted tips in 1999, dreamiest.
- I have a journal entry from third grade where I talked about, "James Moore, you are my crush," and he had just gotten frosted tips.
I was stoked.
I was really excited about it, and I wrote about it.
I read my journals and it was me being like...
I know all the roads (lively music) From Memphis to Muscle Shoals Singing all the fallen angels of rock and roll Once the moonlight had you singing in your sleep Wandering the alleys of your own defeat With eyes about as crazy as a crow And the years kept coming like the rain in a storm Some nights, you can't even get warm Well, loneliness is the only song you know
