A new bill was introduced by Senate PresidentNick Scutari, who's been the leading advocate in the legislature for a cannabis marketplace here in the state.
His bill would allow medical marijuana facilities to bypass the often sluggish and bureaucratic process of getting municipal approval for recreational facilities.
Many towns in the state have opted out of having cannabis stores on their main streets.
In fact, only about a third of towns have any form of marijuana.
Medical or recreational.
And that's caused the entire industry to roll out much slower than originally planned.
So this bill would allow medical marijuana facilities to bypass that approval process and begin selling their product for recreational purposes.
It's likely to get pushback from communities that still say, not in my backyard.
